Job Description

STEM Flights is a growing, family non-profit organization that provides qualified students no-cost, customized aviation education and flight experiences to facilitate learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Our mission is to create positive experiences in general aviation and inspire America’s youth to pursue STEM careers.

 

Our non-profit organization is expanding, and we are seeking a passionate, talented, and organized individual with a “give-back” spirit to join our team as Director of Student Development. We are seeking a qualified candidate that represents our Core Values of Helping Others, Integrity, and Passion.  Training is provided.

 

The Director of Student Development (DSD) will identify, recruit, and process students and parents into the program on a national level. DSD will manage educational activities including the expansion of the STEM Flight Following™ program, administrative duties, student development, educational partnerships, and other activities assigned by the Director of Development or Executive Director. This is a full-time, competitively compensated position. The DSD will work remotely and limited reimbursable travel will be required to attend meetings and/or events.

 

Specific roles and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Recruit new students into our national program. 

  • Evaluate and update current curriculum to reflect national common core science standards.

  • Continually search for & update STEM Flight Following™ resources for students.

  • Track student metrics and provide data to the leadership team for action.

  • Continually update and develop mission flight experience to better serve students.

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with educators, school systems, parent organizations, corporate sponsors, and aviation education organizations at the national level.

  • Manage database of educational and nonprofit partners.

  • Assist the Director of Development in identifying and applying for potential grants, donors, and corporate sponsors.

  • Provide Customer Support to Students and Parents (pre and post mission).

  • Administrative tasks including document creation, spreadsheet management, content creation, financial information, marketing support, presentation design, editing, and data reporting.

  • Support & attend select STEM Flights special events, fly-ins, trade shows, conferences, and virtual meetings & presentations.

 

Candidate must be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, is experienced with project management & administrative software systems (Microsoft Office, Google Suite), and is able to work with database-driven customer relationship management & virtual meeting platforms. Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience required. An ideal candidate has a background in education including Career Technical Education (CTE) STEM subjects, or general education. Knowledge of General Aviation is a bonus, but not required.

 

Compensation range is $43,200 to $50,400 annually depending upon experience. This in an independent (1099) contractor position – not an employee. Candidate is responsible for providing office equipment needed to perform job (computer, printer, Wi-Fi). Benefits are not offered for this position.
